I work at a private school in a low SES community. Many of these students don’t have furniture in their homes, and if they do it is most Likely a basic black or white color. I wanted my classroom to be an escape for these students and offer a positive environment for them to come and feel safe in each day. I decorated with many bright colors and on the first day of school I recieved a lot of positive feedback. Students say it makes them feel happy when they walk in and they want to read everything on the walls and learn because of how colorful everything is!
