Every year I always strive to have a focus that I will revolve my year around. This year I am going to be focusing on Growth Mindsets in my 2nd grade classroom. In short, Growth Mindsets are beliefs that with hard-work, dedication, effort, and resilience our brains grow and we can become smarter and/or better at a specific talent. On our third day of 2nd grade this year we did our first lesson on Growth Mindsets and Fixed Mindsets… and of course… I used Astrobrights paper to help our learning and display come to life. After reading a booked entitled Our Fantastic Elastic Brain, my students had to find a match to a mindset on their Astrobright card. They had to match a fixed mindset to a growth mindset, After our discussion, we went into the hallway and created our Mindset display!
