I wanted my classroom to be a fun place for my students to be. By decorating with bright colors and lots of polka dots I was able to create a classroom that makes my students feel excited and proud to call their own. I shopped all the bargain stores as well as yard sales and Craigslist to bring in everything I needed for the classroom I envisioned for my students. I had to be creative to get everything I needed for the lowest price possible. My room needed a carpet for all my students to sit, that would give them structure and boundaries. The classroom rugs can be very expensive so I found some black commercial carpet and had the edges bound that was large enough for all my student to fit. I then bought Sitspots for each student to sit on. The Sitspots can be moved around easily and I was able to put my student’s numbers on them. Of course I bought my Sitspots when they were having their annual sale. Having my classroom rug made, I was able to color coordinate so it fit right in with the decor of my classroom. With the help of friends that can sew, a handy husband and lots of helpful hands of friends and family my classroom came together just as I had hoped while staying on a budget. My students and their families love their new classroom. It feels good to walk through the door every day!
