To keep student materials organized all year and keep students responsible for their materials, I organize using color. Each table of children has a color and, while my buckets and baskets are yellow, the supplies inside all match their table. For example, the red table uses red scissors, red play dough, red erasers, etc. When they need supplies, they go to their color coded shelf (just colored paper laminated and placed on the shelf) to retrieve them. To keep them extra motivated, if my students take good care of their supplies and keep them organized, they get a reward!
